Interaction with European and international Ocean Observing networks

Task 1.4 aims at establishing close contacts with existing consortia, communities coordinating ocean observing systems or RI of relevance to JERICO-NEXT. It will focus on ocean observing systems, mostly addressing physical and chemical parameters (but further develop biological observation). It will benefit from contributions from partners with broad interactions and/or involvement with the relevant communities/consortia and will be supported by partners representing European regions (including ROOSes). Close interactions and mechanisms for exchange of know-how, practices, and alignment of strategies with existing European (I3, ESFRI, ERIC) and other marine observing systems outside Europe  will be established. Such organizations and projects encompass EMSO, Euro ARGO, FixO3, AtlantOS, ICOS-OTC, COOPEUS, MEXICOOS, US-IOOS, IMOS, DAFF. Strategic interactions will also be secured through the involvement of the JERICO-NEXT Advisory Board, which gather representatives of EMSO-ERIC, EuroARGO-ERIC, EMBRC, FP7-FixO3, FP7-NEXOS, H2020-AtlantOS. Task 1.4 will provide inputs that will support task 1.5 in elaborating scenarios for the long-term sustainability of the JERICORI, including the sustained access to users of coastal observatories/observations, as direct interaction with users’ communities is also an accelerator for innovation and development. This task will also use the opportunity of international conferences with broad attendance to organise strategy meetings with the other Ocean Observing projects and communities.
